Bachelor of Physiotherapy
As per WHO ‘s International Classification of Health Workers, based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO, 2008 revision) – “Physiotherapists assess, plan and implement rehabilitative programs that improve or restore human motor functions, maximize movement ability, relieve pain syndromes, and treat or prevent physical challenges associated with injuries, diseases and other impairments. They apply a broad range of physical therapies and techniques such as movement, ultrasound, heating, laser and other techniques. They may develop and implement programmes for screening and prevention of common physical ailments and disorders.”
This undergraduate course in Physiotherapy (BPT) aims to impart in depth knowledge and skill to a student to become competent in the techniques and develop the proper attitude required for the independent and autonomous practice of Physiotherapy.
The professional degree program consists of classroom lectures, practical and laboratory demonstrations, bed side clinics, self-directed academic activities and clinical postings.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
Candidates for admission to the course shall have passed the Higher Secondary examination or courses recognized equivalent there to by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences with 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together with usual relaxation allowed by Government of West Bengal for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (A & B) and PwD candidates.
Students should have completed 17 years of age as on 31 December of the admission year.
MODE OF SELECTION TO THE COURSE
The selection of students for the course shall be made strictly based on merit as decided by the competent authority approved by the Government of West Bengal and West Bengal University of Health Sciences and as per guidelines of the respective council from time to time.
FEES
As stipulated by the Government of West Bengal and/or WBUHS from time to time.
EXAMINATIONS
As per WBUHS Academic Regulations and course syllabus prescribed from time to time.
